Pioneering comedian and entertainer, Joan Rivers, dies aged 81

Joan-Rivers-RIPThe showbusiness legend that was Joan Rivers, has sadly passed away. Her daughter, Melissa Rivers, said in a statement: “It is with great sadness that I announce the death of my mother, Joan Rivers. She passed peacefully at 1.17pm (Thursday) surrounded by family and close friends.”

Transgender soldiers may be allowed to serve openly in U.S. military

transymbolIn a report issued earlier this week, top Pentagon officials have said that it is 'likely' that trans citizens would be allowed to serve openly in the U.S. armed forces.

The 29 page document issued by retired Major General Gale S Pollock, former acting surgeon general of the Army General Clara Adams-Ender and former US Army chief General Thomas A Kolditz, is being likened to the downfall of the 'Don't Ask Don't Tell' policy that stopped many gay and lesbian citizens serving.

Scott Mills goes on Strictly

scott-milllsThe Radio 1 DJ is about to show us his dance moves on the BBC show Strictly Come Dancing. The presenter announced it over the airwaves yesterday, as he covered Nick Grimshaw on the breakfast show.

He confessed that: "My listeners are so used to me playing pranks that they're probably going to think this is just another one. It's not, I really am doing this."

He will join Frankie Bridge, Judy Murray, Alison Hammond, Thom Evans, Simon Webbe, Mark Wright, Sunetra Sarker, Steve Backshall and Jake Wood in this year’s battle for the Glitter Ball Trophy, with six more celebrities still to be confirmed.
