LGBT stars support Sport Relief

sportrelief1Some of London’s well-known Lesbian, Gay Bisexual and Transgendered (LGBT) celebrities have been warming up for Sport Relief to inspire people from the LGBT community to rise to the challenge and enter the Sainsbury’s Sport Relief Mile – due to take place on Sunday 21st March.

Julian Bennett, DJ Dusty 'O', rapper QBoy and a host of other personalities have dusted off their sports kit to encourage the LGBT community to enter the London Mile and raise as much money as they can for vulnerable people here in the UK and across the world’s poorest countries.

The Gym, Vauxhall and shot by Out In The City photographer Chris Jepson includes diva drag star Dusty ‘O’, DJ Sandra D, Queer Eye for the Straight Guy’s Julian Bennett, rapper QBoy, and author and former Big Brother housemate Gerry Stergiopoulos. Tragically, Kristian Digby was also due to take part in the photo shoot. Following his untimely death earlier in the week, the organisers wanted it to be known that, “Our thoughts are with his loved ones at this difficult time.” The images here, taken at

Commenting on her participation, Dusty ‘O’ said, “We’re getting fit and fabulous for Sport Relief and you can do your bit too by entering the Sainsbury’s Sport Relief Mile.  The money you raise will be spent by Comic Relief to transform the lives of disadvantaged people in the world’s poorest countries, and here in the UK. Comic Relief cash is already hard at work some fantastic LGBT projects in London, such as PACE and the Metrocentre. Let’s run the Sainsbury’s Sport Relief Mile with Pride. Whether it’s one, three or six miles, why not challenge your family, friends and work mates to sign up today at www.sportrelief.com.”

The Sport Relief Weekend takes place from Friday 19th to Sunday 21st March and is aiming to bring the entire nation together to “get active, raise cash and change lives.”
