Kristian Digby 1977-2010

kristiandigbyBBC TV presenter Kristian Digby was discovered dead at his East London flat on the morning of Monday 1 March 2010. Aged 32, his death has shocked his family, friends, colleagues and fans. Police have said that, at the moment, his death is “unexplained”.

Digby was raised in Torquay, Devon, where his parents still live. Born into a family of property developers, he became famous for hosting shows such as To Buy Or Not To Buy and To Build Or Not To Build, and also worked on Living In The Sun and House Swap.

Words Of Deception. Openly gay, he was well known for his support of charities such as Stonewall and the Terrence Higgins Trust. He was also a budding filmmaker, winning a junior BAFTA in 1997 for his short film

Digby’s agent, Jo Wander, issued a statement saying, “I am devastated by the loss. He was a lovely guy and a very talented presenter and director. I will miss him hugely and my thoughts at this time are with his family and his many friends. He will be sorely missed.”

Digby was a patron for the Albert Kennedy Trust – the charity that helps homeless, young LGBT people. Tim Sigsworth, the charity’s Chief Executive, said, “All of us at the Albert Kennedy Trust are saddened to hear the news that our patron Kristian Digby has died. Kristian was an incredible supporter of our cause and had genuine empathy for our young people and the work we do. It is thanks to Kristian’s talent as a performer that we were able to raise much-needed funds at our events where he played the role of both ambassador and auctioneer. At our last fundraiser, hosted by Simmons & Simmons & InterLaw, we remember Kristian talking to as many people as possible about our work and thanking them for attending. This was the Kristian we knew and loved: always passionate and supportive.”
