Rainbow Lovebox

jonnywooThe annual LoveBox festival has always been particularly gay-friendly in its selection of DJs and headlining acts. This year will be no exception. Organisers have just announced more details about this year’s festival, which will take place Friday 16th-Sunday 18th July, including appearances from scene favourites such as Jonny Woo (pictured right)... Out In The City readers. Not only will Horse Meat Disco, Trailer Trash and the NYC Downlow be present for DJ stints, but appearing on stage will be Peaches, Hot Chip, Hercules and Love Affair, Hurts and the iconic Grace Jones. The aforementioned Jonny Woo will be compeering the main stage. Other acts taking part across the weekend will include Roxy Music, Empire Of The Sun, Mark Ronson, Ellie Goulding, The Noisettes and Dizzee Rascal. Day tickets cost £45 + booking fee, while weekend tickets cost £99 + booking fee. The Sunday date (18 July) in particular is likely to prove popular with www.lovebox.net

In a separate festival development, designer Wayne Hemingway has announced the launch of a brand new summer event that aims to celebrate both British music and fashion. Vintage at Goodwood will take place from 13-15 August 2010, and will celebrate ‘creative British cool’ from the 40s, 50s, 60s, 70s and 80s.

“Whether it’s Swing, Rockabilly, Mod, Soul, Funk, Disco, Ska, Electro, Burlesque, Film or Art & Design that’s your thing, whether you just want to dress up and get an authentic ‘flat top’ and make-over for a day, Vintage at Goodwood will be visual, responsible, aural and sensual, a big family dressing up box, a collectors dream and a joyous creative feast for all ages.”

Expect fashions shows, market stalls, plus music from the likes of Sandie Shaw, Heaven 17, Aswad, Buzzcocks and The Damned. Singer Lily Allen will also use the event to launch her own fashion collection. www.vintageatgoodwood.com
