Greens launch Pink Manifesto

greentatchellThe Green Party launched a specific LGBT Election Manifesto at a press conference in Brighton on Friday 26 February. The event, which was hosted by Caroline Lucas MEP and Peter Tatchell (pictured left), outlined the LGBT issues that the Greens intend to address if elected to power.

These include the aim to open up civil marriages and civil partnerships to both same-sex and opposite sex couples, to end the blanket ban on gay and bisexual blood donors, and to amend the Equality Bill to provide explicit protection against the harassment of LGBT people. They would also refuse work permits to “murder music” singers and others who incite homophobic violence, require all police forces to have LGBT Liaison Officers, and ensure safe haven to LGBT people fleeing homophobic countries.
