Jonny Woo's alternative opening

jonnywooalternativeopeningUnless you’ve been living in… well, outer Siberia, you will know that the Sochi Winter Olympics in Russia have generated plenty of political controversy – particularly in relation to Russia’s attitude towards LGBT rights. In response to this, club kids and campaigners in London have teamed up to present a special one-off event on Friday 7 February entitled The Alternative Opening – a decidedly rainbow-hued take on the opening of the Sochi games that will raise funds for the Peter Tatchell Foundation.

The event will be hosted by Jonny Woo (pictured), and will feature the DJs and hosts of cult London cabaret clubs, Gay Bingo, Batty Bass, Wetyourself, Handsome and Sink The Pink – including John Sizzle, Hannah Holland, Cormac, Ma Butcher, Princess Julia and Dave Kenrick.
This warehouse party will take place at Lime Wharf on Vyner Street, a new canal-side club space in the heart of the East End. Live performances will come from Feral Is Kinky, Mama, Q Boy, Holestarm Glyn Famous and others. Doors will be open from 8pm till 2am. Advance tickets are on sale now costing £10, or it will be £15 on the door. Advance tickets are available at www.ticketweb.co.uk
