Lovebox details announced

loveboxDetails have been announced about this year’s Lovebox festival. Once again, organisers are aiming to make the Sunday of this weekend event a particularly gay-friendly affair. This follows the success of last year’s event. The Sunday played host to stars such as Grace Jones and Hercules & Love Affair, with the main stage being hosted by East End guerrilla dragster Jonny Woo, and gay clubs such as the NYC Downlow and Salvation running disco tents.

This year’s event will again take place in Victoria Park in Hackney, on Friday-Sunday 15-17 July 2011. The Sunday’s ‘Out and Out Fierce’ programme (17 July) will feature live performances from Scissor Sisters, Blondie, Kelis, Robyn, 2 Many DJs and Marc Almond, while Jodie Harsh will be bringing her Circus club, along with contributions from the Horse Meat Disco team. Acts appearing over the rest of the weekend will include Snoop Dogg, The Wombats, The Drums and Katy B, among many others.
One-day tickets start at £28.50.
Tickets went on sale today, and are available from www.lovebox.net as well as from Ticketmaster (www.ticketmaster.co.uk) or by calling 08448472436.
As a pre-taster of the festival, there will be a Lovebox ‘Pop-Up’ taking place at Village Underground across the 21-23 April. “Lovebox will stage a three-day takeover of the East End’s hottest creative space, incorporating live music, club events, film, fashion and art. Saturday’s event (22 April), Out & Out Fierce, features a line-up of DJs from Andy Butler’s Mr INTL lable, including Kim Ann Foxton,” plus DJ and club promoter Jim Stanton, disco house DJ Severino, Disco Bloodbath’s Dan Beaumont and Dave Kendrick.
