Prowling the streets for a good cause

BatterseaWe know how many of you are pet lovers, and so we thought you might well be interested in supporting a couple of great events that are being held to raise funds for Battersea Dogs & Cats Home. On Saturday 30 October, the organization is holding a ‘Halloween Cat Prowl’ – a sponsored nighttime walk around the streets of London. Aimed at all ‘cat women and tom cats’, the cat prowl will be a 10k walking fiesta of ghoulish proportions, with all those attending encouraged to dress suitably feline or Halloween-ish. The Prowl will start at 6pm at Millennium Bridge and will make its way to the Battersea Dogs & Cats Home (a shorter 5k walk for younger participants will end at Wellington Arch, Hyde Park). Those over 18 can attend the After-Prowl Part on site at Battersea, with free food and a drink for all walkers. All those participating are asked to try and raise £150 in sponsorship money – register your interest now at www.battersea.org.uk

The Halloween Cat Prowl is just one event that will help mark Battersea Dogs & Cats Home’s 150th anniversary. Another will be a grand ‘Collars & Coats’ Anniversary Ball, which will take place on Thursday 25 November in the presence of HRH Prince Michael of Kent. It will take place in the iconic surroundings of Battersea Power Station. An evening of swanky glitz and glamour, live entertainment is planned from Alexandra Burke, The Who’s Roger Daltry and Queen’s Roger Taylor, among others. Bookings start at £5,000 for a table for ten people. Full details at www.collarsandcoats.com
