Out In The City

ipadThe gay community has carried its fair share of stereotypes over the years, many of which have stuck, but how do we know fact from fiction? The Pink Living Survey launches to explode the myths. Do gay people flock to certain areas such as Brighton, London and Manchester? Does the LGB community still wear the DINKY (double income, no kids yet) label that was slapped on them in the 90s? Are lesbians really ‘nesters’ - only interested in long term relationships? The Pink Living Survey has been launched this month in search of the facts about how and where LGBs live in the 21st Century. The project is from the creators of g3 and Out In The City and aims to answer questions such as who gay people live with, how much we earn and are we homeowners?
“This is the first survey of its kind, the census carried limited data on gay couples but wasn’t a good measure as it didn’t include the demographic for single gay people. We are looking to do something much more in-depth,” explains Sarah Garrett, the MD for Square Peg Media, the company who are launching the survey.
The questionnaire, which only takes a few minutes to answer, is also being supported by Outlet, the gay rental and property specialists, and Savills.
