Greens launch Pink Manifesto

greentatchellThe Green Party launched a specific LGBT Election Manifesto at a press conference in Brighton on Friday 26 February. The event, which was hosted by Caroline Lucas MEP and Peter Tatchell (pictured left), outlined the LGBT issues that the Greens intend to address if elected to power.

Alison Goldfrapp responds to 'outing'

alisongoldfrappSinger Alison Goldfrapp has talked about being “outed”, after her relationship with a woman was revealed recently in a national newspaper. In late December 2009, in a feature titled ‘The Rise of Mid-Life Lesbians’, The Sunday Times announced that the 43-year-old singer of Goldfrapp had recently started dating hip film editor Lisa Gunning.  The singer, in a follow-up interview with The Times on 26 February, said that the piece had been “a bit of a shocker” and she had not known in advance that she and Gunning were to be mentioned.

Jason Wood 1972-2010

jasonwoodOpenly gay comic and TV personality Jason Wood (pictured left) passed away on the evening of Saturday 20 February. He was aged just 38. It’s believed that he died in his sleep. In a statement, his agent said that there were no suspicious circumstances surrounding his death, but that an autopsy still had to take place to determine the precise cause.

Brighton Pride smashes fundraising target

BrightonPride2012-Parade CJP0108 copy 2Brighton Pride organisers have announced their delight, following the 2014 Pride celebrations in Preston Park and the Pride Village Party, they have smashed their target and raised so far £64,578.00 for the Rainbow Fund.

This year's fundraising total has been raised from the £1 ring-fenced from ticket sales for the Pride Festival and Pledge Wristbands for the Village Party, also from Pride fundraising activities.

Brighton Pride Managing Director, Paul Kemp, said:
"Brighton Pride is the UKs biggest Pride festival and we are incredibly proud that we have raised more than £107,000 over the past 2 years for the Rainbow Fund. Supporting LBGT charities and good causes is the cornerstone of Pride and really shows that Brighton Pride 2014 was a ‘Pride with Purpose'
