Emmerdale proves gay favourite |
|
Monday, 07 June 2010 12:57 |
Voters in Stonewall’s latest social media poll have decided that of the three main soap operas on British TV, Emmerdale is the best for gay storylines. The online poll, with 1,025 responses, was a close call with Emmerdale narrowly taking the top spot at 44 per cent, and EastEnders coming a close second with 43 per cent. Coronation Street received 13 per cent of the vote. Emmerdale’s high ranking was partly prompted by its recent storyline involving bad boy character Aaron Livesy (played by Daniel Miller - pictured) coming to terms with his sexuality.

|
Thursday, 27 May 2010 15:10 |
The London borough of Camden has received a gay mayor and mayoress. Local Labour councillor Jonathan Simpson became the borough’s first openly gay mayor after safely retaining his seat in the recent May elections. A regular at cult Saturday night club, Duckie, he asked good friend Amy Lamé (Duckie promoter and TV/radio presenter) – if she would act as his Lady Mayoress for the duration of his time in office. A fellow Camden resident herself, Amy was only too happy to accept the offer.
